Q:If I pick up baby out of bed, does the alarm go off? If so I have to “disarm” it before picking up baby?

A:

Yes, you do have to disarm the system by pressing a hold button on the parental unit. Every time I get my son out of bed, I forget to pause it, and end up setting off the alarm. At least I know the system works.

Q:Is the hard board going to work with the Kendall crib by Pottery Barn? the mattress’ frame is not solid, is open (wires).

A:

Our mattress frame is not from the pottery barn but it is all wires, the only solid is the frame of the crib. What the mattress sits on is basically a metal lattice that is springy. I think that is pretty common for cribs. So the hard board will work. But we realized after purchasing the hard board anything stiff would have worked in its place. But regardless of if you choose to user the hard board or a piece of plywood or something similar I definatley recommend the monitor. Its been a lifesaver. The monitor lets us sleep soundly knowing we will know if he isnt breathing.

Q:When the alarm sounds, does it sound at the parent unit, the child unit, or both?

A:

Both

Q:Do you need additional support under the grid? Has it been recalled as stated in reviews?

A:

You have to put it on something solid above the springs, like I used a square of cardboard it just helps it pick up the movement. It was recalled a while back because of a strangulation hazard, however the news ones have these plastic wire guide that prevents this. Completly worth it

Q:We already have a monitor with a camera. Will it still work if we use both? Any static?

A:

This monitor has 8 channels. You can select any channel, which you think is giving you better reception, without any static. Hope this helps.

Q:Does it come with AC Adapter or it is on Bataries Only?

A:

It has an AC adapter. You also have the option to use batteries for thr parent unit.

Q:Can it go in the bassinet?

A:

We had it in our bassinet then moved it to her crib once she got older. This is a MUST have to help with peace of mind. It is very accurate !

Q:Will this product work if we have our infant on her stomach in a pac-n-play?

A:

The Angel Care doesn’t work in a pack and play. You have to put plywood under the crib mattress and then have a place for the cords to come out. We were only able to hook this up in our bassinet and crib. When our son is in his pack and play we use the Snuza which just clips on to his diaper. However, it doesn’t work if he is on his tummy.

Q:Will this detect movement and sound if a baby is sleeping on his stomach?

A:

Yes, absolutely

Q:Is it possible to purchase an extra receiver? We currently have two receivers and need a third.

A:

Yes, if they have them in stock, you can call their customer service. Mine cost $34 +shipping, and did not come with an extra charging cradle :)

Q:Is it pretty light-weight and suitable for traveling to Europe?

A:

Yes. Just make sure to wrap it well in your luggage.

Q:The instructions say that the unit cannot be used with a memory foam mattress. What about a regular mattress with a 2 inch memory foam topper?

A:

No.

While it may be possible, I would assume no. The device senses small movements through the matress. A memory foam topper would likely make baby motions too weak to detect.

Q:Hi, our crib is has slatted bed base, does it work on this type of surface? Thanks

A:

ours does too, it was no problem. i just used a large cutting board to put underneath the sensor pad.

Q:How long can you use this? Years? For a toddler as well? What if they roll a lot in their sleep? My son is a VERY active sleeper

A:

I would imagine you could use it as long as you wanted. My daughter is an active sleeper as well. When she was smaller (6months or so) she would roll into the corner and the alarm would go off because it couldn’t sense her. Now she’s 11 months and it hardly ever goes off. I actually increased the sensitivity of the sensor and that helped a lot so it was sensing small movements when she was in the corner and all.

Q:Why can’t te sensor just be placed on the crib itself? Our crib has a hard flat surface below the the mattress?

A:

It probably could – but just know that if you get quite a bit of false positives that may be the cause.

Q:I understand a board needs to be placed under the mattress, is this true?

A:

This is correct and very easy !

Q:Does the device use wires or cords?

A:

There is a cord holder

Q:How thick is the angelcare pad?

A:

It maybe a half inch thick if that or so.

Q:Does the monitor and receiver only take batteries? Does the parent receiver plug in to an outlet to so that it can charge while on the base?

A:

Monitor in nursery has batteries for blackout back up purposes only. Principally uses plug. Parent monitor takes batteries and comes with its own charging dock.

Q:How big is the mat? My 6 month old rolls all around at night. will it still work for her?

A:

It isn’t huge by any means, but I think if you were to place it in the center of the crib, it would still work proficiently.

Q:Does this time work with children who sleep on their stomachs?

A:

Yes! That was the main reason we bought this monitor. My daughter will only sleep in her stomach and it gives me peace of mind! Love it.

Q:Can i use this under the Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer Dual Firmness All Foam Crib Mattress

A:

If the mattress does not have springs, I would doubt it. The only way you will know for sure is to buy it and test it out. You will just alarm a lot if it can’t sense movement.

Q:Has anyone tried this with the Halo Bassinest?

A:

No but i dont think it will work unless the mattress part comes out and u risk other issues because its several cords that go from the sensor pad to the wall outlet and then to the nursery monitor. Its really made for a crib.

Q:Any chance the movement sensor works for two sided (infant/toddler) mattress? Product description says no, but I am still curious.

A:

Yes

Q:Can you use this under their sheet, or does it have to be under the actual mattress? We have a tempurpedic baby mattress (used with our older two)

A:

Under mattress.

Q:Will this movement/sound monitor work in a packnplay that, along with the packnplay mattress, also has a 3″ thick foam Dream on Me mattress in it?

A:

Not sure about the movement part.. But you can use the sound portion by itself too.

Q:Is this product cordless?

A:

Yes it is

Q:Hello, can I used with 220 volts. Or it does not need electricity.

A:

Not without an adapter. It’s designed for standard US 120VAC 60Hz.

Q:When the parent unit is charging, is the battery indicator supposed to continuously show that it is charging? my screen goes black after a short time.

A:

The screen goes black when charging.

Q:Heard this wont work with “dual” mattresses but will it work with Sealy Nature Cotton Bliss 2 Stage Infant-Toddler Mattress? Not sure what dual means

A:

A dual mattress is firmer on one side for an infant and a bit softer on the other for a toddler. My daughter has that type of mattress and the Angelcare works with it. She travels with this monitor and loves it. You can always buy it and test it with your mattress. If you’re not confident with it…just return the monitor.

Q:Is there an affordable way to integrate a video monitor as well? I’m on a budget but my best friend is pregnant! I want the best.

A:

I have this angle care as well as a separate video monitor. The video monitor there are plenty to choose from and variety of features and prices something like this http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Digital-Color-Monitor/dp/B00I3K1D00/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1420944933&sr=8-15&keywords=baby+video+monitor+reviews

Q:Looking to expand our Angelcare System. Was wondering if a 1 pad system can be converted to a 2 pad system. Where would I buy the extra pad?

A:

Doubt it. The pad is wired & plugs directly into the back of the unit. You’d need a splitter & that “could” affect the sensitivity of the unit. Personally, I would just invest in a second system.

Q:Can I buy a second pad for the movement monitor set?

A:

I don’t believe so. I think there is only 1 slot for the movement pad cord to go into.

Q:Can I buy a second pad for the movement monitor set?

A:

Not for this one BUT….there is a set that you can buy that has two sensors.

Q:Does this item work with baby swaddled in a blanket?

A:

Yes. We had our son swaddled in a halo sleep sack and the monitor was still able to detect movement / breathing.

Q:Can we take just the sound monitor and parental unit with us when away from home or does the movement piece need to come with to work?

A:

I believe that the pad is required to get the full effect of the monitoring

Q:Does the temperature can be seen in either Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees?

A:

Depends on the Model, the US version is F the international is C, I don’t see how on the model I have allows you to change it to C

Here is the user manual: http://www.angelcarebaby.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Manuel_AC401_CA_USA_-NA_19_12_20121.pdf

Q:I purchased this monitor when I was 8 mon pregnant & my son is just now 7 mon & it has died. My last “Angel Monitor” lasted YEARS! What do I do?

A:

I’d call them since you might still be under warranty. I had a hard rime finding their phone number, but ifyou post on their facebook page, they’ll give it to you. Or you can look at other people’s posts on there to see if they posted the number somewhere already

Q:Is this product waterproof or do I need to make sure a waterproof mattress cover is used?

A:

This is placed under the mattress….NOT between the mattress and sheet. It is very sensitive to movement….even a ceiling fan can keep it from going off. You need to sit it between your crib springs and the mattress. Hope this helps. We love this monitor.

Q:1. Do you know if this product works with this specific mattress from target? Sealy Premier Posture Dual Sided Crib Mattress – 204 Coil

A:

No

Q:Can I use the motion sensor in a pack and play and mattress?

A:

Yes

Q:Will this model work on 220v (in europe)?

A:

No

Q:are both monitors battery backup

A:

Yes, both handsets have rechargeable batteries. However, both my handsets’rechargeable batteries quit holding a charge after a year of use. replacing with other rechargeables didn’t work, so we could only use them if they were on the cradle.

Q:Can you turn off the light on the parent unit?

A:

Yes

Q:Does the matress sensor pad have to be used?

A:

Nope, works with or without the sensor pad. We’ve had our since our first child was born in 2008 and it still works great, just a little static but that’s probably from getting dropped in a river back in 2009. This thing takes a lickin’ and keeps on…. blah blah blah.

Q:What crib mattress are you using with this monitor?

A:

I have a mattress from simmins a standard firm crib mattress.

Q:Can I use this in a bassinet?

A:

As long as there is a hard surface for the pad to lay on, yes. We always laid a small board under our pack and play.

Q:Does this work with a portacrib mattress?

A:

I think it would based on packing directions. The matress just ant be memory foam or really really thick. But we did not use it with a portacrib. Hope that helps. Best of luck

Q:Do you have to use the movement pad or can you just use the monitor

A:

I have called my Granddaughter and ask her this question. She told me that she uses it keep for the peace of mind. So yes I would say yes.

Q:How do you remove the battery cover for the sound monitor? I have tried the method shown in the instruction manual without success.

A:

There Might be a screw holding it in. You remove the screw and the cover should just slide off. If that’s not working you might want to call the company

Q:Can I use this with my Arm’s Reach Cosleeper if I purchase a wooden board. My sleeper has a very thin mattress and not a wooden frame.

A:

I’m not really familiar with that co sleeper, but we used it under our bassinet, which has a thin mattress and a board underneath it. It worked great that way. It does need to connect to the transmitter via a wire though, so if the Co sleeper is in your bed, you might end up needing to deal with the cable problem :)

Q:How many parent units does this model come with?

A:

Mine came with only one. You can always purchase another parent unit or purchase one that comes with two for slightly more.

Q:My 5 month old will only sleep on his side and eventually turns on his stomach. Will the monitor work if he is sleeping on his side?

A:

Yes it will Maria. The monitor detects your baby’s muscle tremors, breathing, etc. It basically is a vibration sensor – as long as the baby (or something) that is resting on top of the sensor is moving then it will not alarm. Once that movement stops, the alarm will sound after a few seconds to alert you that they are no longer moving (breathing, twitching, playing).

Q:The instructions say it can’t be used with memory foam. We have a dual firmness, one side foam, one side memory foam mattress. Anyone used it?

A:

I wouldn’t advise it. The sensor is placed under the mattress. A mattress that’s too dense would not record the movement. I’m assuming that is why they say that. You could also get a lot of false alarms if it’s not able to register movement.

Q:Can u hear baby breathing, or does monitor simply show that baby is breathing?

A:

First off I’ll say my wife and I really like this product. It gave us confidence with our newborn to stop waking up frequently and checking on him to make sure he is OK. We bought it on the enthusiastic recommendation of a number of friends. To answer your question- there are two monitors (one connected and one mobile), neither of which will allow you to actually hear the baby breathing, but both of which will alert and alarm if it stops sensing the movement of the baby breathing. Congrats and good luck!

Q:Doe this fit and work with a bassinet?

A:

I’m not sure, but I think not. You could call Angelcare customer service and ask.

We used the Snuza portable movement monitor until our son started sleeping in his crib. I would aslo recommend that!

Q:Does this model have the hard covers for the cords? I saw a recall on it because of strangulation risk

A:

I don’t believe it does. You contact Angel Care and they mail the covers out to you.

Q:Will this work with Naturepedic Dual Firmness crib mattress?

A:

From the looks of it yes it will. Your mattress is cotton, not foam so there should be no problem.

Q:Does this work with a foam mattress?

A:

I would think that it does since they aren’t very thick. Ours has been used with cosleeper mattress, pack n play and now the full size crib mattress. It has a sensitivity setting and we just turned that up as we moved to thicker mattresses.

Q:Can you see the metronome (to show baby is breathing) without hearing the tic?

A:

Yes. You have the ability to turn the tic off while still using the metronome.

check-price-on-amazon

Q:Can you change between Fahrenheit and Celsius for the temperature reading?

A:

No, I can’t found any way to change it

Q:what does the movement sensor mat measure?

A:

It is a sensitive mat that monitors the movements of the baby as it breaths. If no movement is detected, an alarm will go off on the base and the monitor, to try and “jolt” the baby awake and to wake you up respectively.

Q:Can you turn the beeping off but still have the motion sensor on?

A:

By beeping do you mean the movement “tic” sound? If so, then yes. It can be disabled.

Q:Can I use just the sound monitor once baby is to wiggly for the sensor pad?

A:

Yes it can be used as a sound monitor only or it can be used as motion sensor or sound plus motion sensor. I will say the motion sensor is amazing on this thing and it works 100% in my opinion! It can even sense a dangling towel barely sliding across the top of the mattress. Your baby will never be too wiggly for the sensor I would think…if he/she is moving the sensors reading movement (if they are moving they are breathing for the most part) and when they are sound asleep it will detect their breathing. Q:Hi, I have a dual firmness mattress and I was wondering if I could just put the pad on top of the mattress, underneath the fitted bed sheet?

A:

That would probably wind up being very uncomfortable for the child, it’s hard plastic about a quarter inch thick. I had a baby/toddler mattress (you flipped for varying thickness) and put down a piece of plywood, then the monitor and the mattress from bassinet up to toddler bed. Still use it for both my kids. Only way I slept at night, if they let me get any!

Q:Is there Measures kit(cord cover)?

A:

Yes, there is a cord cover for use when you attach the monitor to the crib.

Q:Can you silence the alarm from the parent unit alone? (If you have two parent units, does silencing the alarm from one unit silence ALL units?)

A:

We only have 1 unit so it just silences the 1

Q:Hi,Does this item come with cord cover?

A:

Yes

Q:Will this Angelcare product work with a pack n play?

A:

Yes, but but only for an infant. You would need it to put the sensor pad on a piece of board (we actually used a bread board) under the mattress in our basinette and make sure to put the infant on the mattress directly over the board (and therefore on the sensor pad). If your child is old enough to move off the sensor pad by rolling around, then the sensor pad will be of no use to you. The unit would be better in a crib (which wouldn’t be as wide as a travel cot or pack and play). In short, you couldn’t expect a sensor pad which measures roughly 12 inches by 14 inches to be 100%effective detecting the smallest respiratory movement of a sleeping child on the entire surface of a travel cot or pack and play. In order to be able to use the sensor pad properly and as it was designed, the child needs to be put to sleep on the mattress directly above the sensor pad.

Q:Does this have a temperature monitor in it?

A:

Yes. The base unit takes the temperature and you can see it displayed on the portable part.

Q:Can you use an oversize thin book, or plastic cutting board as the ‘board’?

A:

I wouldn’t -it is very sensitive. The board we got was at Lowes or Home Depot and it was not that expensive at all. Just don’t get the super thin one.

Q:Hello – will this product work in nz with an adapter?

A:

That question should be asked to the manufacturer due to safety.wish I could be of more service.

Q:Does the pad work with the regular mattress? Does it go under it?

A:

Yes it works with a regular crib mattress and yes it goes under the mattress.
