2.4GHz FHSS Technology with Two-Way Communication

The MBP36S’ 2.4GHz FHSS technology offers a more reliable wireless connection compared to older wireless technologies. Upgraded wireless technology means much better range and less chance of missing something important happening in the home due to a weak or dropped signal. Encrypted audio offers added security and peace of mind. The Motorola MBP36S also features crystal clear enhanced two-way audio so you’re able to speak or sing to your baby or to clearly communicate with a partner from another room.

Color LCD Screen with Pan, Tilt, and Zoom Function

A full-color 3.5 inch diagonal LCD display shows real-time video and sound in your baby’s room. Five LEDs on the MBP36S baby monitor indicate the level of sound activity in the room, keeping you informed of what’s going on visually as well as audibly. Control the MBP36S’ camera remotely to pan, tilt, and zoom the video image as needed.

Room Temperature Monitor, Infrared Night Vision, and Five Built-In Lullabies

The MBP36S is equipped with a room temperature display so that you can ensure that it never gets too hot or too cold for your little one. Infrared night vision helps keep you connected with what’s going on in your baby’s room without any lights to disturb little sleepers. In addition, you can calm your little one with the sound of your choice of 5 soothing polyphonic lullabies.

“Out-of-Range” and “Low Battery” Alerts

The superior wireless range of the MBP36S lets you keep connected to your baby up to 590 feet away. So even if you have a larger home, you don’t have to give up safety or the ability to stay connected to your little one. An alarm sounds when you’re getting out of range of the transmitting unit, so you’ll never have to wonder if you’re close enough to hear what’s going on. A low battery alert also sounds when it’s time to recharge the battery.

Featuring remote pan, tilt, and zoom to allow viewing the room where needed.

Q:I can assume this model (MPB36S) is replacing the MPB36 model. What is the difference between the two models?

A:

We just upgraded from the 36 to the 36S. Very happy with the purchase. Highlights: (1) We had no choice, as the 36 female power jack kept losing its connection to the charging cord as it twisted around all the time when moving the parent unit. Earlier were had problems with the charging cord also. Where the charging cord connected to the male jack it was getting bent and frayed from moving around to different parts of the house a few times each day. We bought a new transformer with proper jack at Radio Shack, but eventually the female jack on the unit failed completely. (2) 36S fixes this design flaw. The male jack is now much sturdier and cannot twist in the female jack. It is a rectangular jack now, not a hole, so we expect greater luck with this model. (3) Camera resolution during the day may be slightly better than it was for the 36. (4) The audio seems clearer. We can hear our daughter breathing in her crib now. It was never this clear on the 36. (5) Be forewarned – the cameras from the 36 are not compatible with the 36S parent unit. (6) Oh, I forgot to mention… You can choose to split the screen into 2 sides or 4 squares to simultaneously monitor up to 4 cameras, assuming you want to see all the kids at the same time instead of using the scan feature. 36 did not have this feature.

Q:Will this unit work with the MBP 36 cameras? We have two cameras and the parent unit broke, we’d like to stil use our cameras.

A:

No it will not. We had the same situation. Ian.

Q:Can the camera be mounted on a wall or is it table mount only?

A:

It easily mounts on the wall using one nail like a small picture frame . I like the unit except there is a black cord whereas it should have been white or beige for a babys room

Q:Is the power adapter multivoltage?

A:

Yes

Q:Can you use TWO parent monitors with this system?

A:

Great question that even the company should consider answering.

Q:Will you be able to access this camera remotely? Outside of your home network?

A:

Not that I have seen or read. It only connects to itself and not your home network.

Q:Does it have a white power cord?

A:

The powers cords for both the parent unit and camera were both white NOT black in my case.

Q:Can this product be used internationally? i.e European power outlet?

A:

It can be used internationally with the appropriate outlet converter. We have been using ours in UAE.

Q:Does the split screen work well with multiple cameras? Is audio only linked to 1 camera when watching split screen?

A:

As far as I can tell from searching and contacting Motorola, you have to buy two monitors as well in order to utilize the multiple camera mode, as they don’t sell a separate camera separately yet.

Q:In the photo on the website of the device has a feature picture-in-picture. In reality, this feature is available or not, or only one image is displayed? Is there a function Eco in this device?

A:

This comes with only one camera so there for you can’t utilize the picture in picture. BUT if you buy another camera to add onto your parent monitor, then apparently it will do the picture in picture and split screen with both of your cameras and up to 4 cameras can be added

Q:The parent unit (screen) of my MBP36S powers on as soon as the power cable is plugged in. Is this normal?

A:

Yes, mine does the same. I just hit the off button if I don’t want it on at that time.

Q:4 cameras included ?

A:

No

Q:I’ve had issues with other brands giving off loud “out of range” alerts when the camera/base are not far from each other at all. Any similar issues?

A:

They do have a beep when you’re out of range, but the sound of the beep is the same as the volume setting you’ve selected.

Q:If I buy an additional camera and pair it, can I split the visor to see both at the same time or do I have to scroll the images to see them?

A:

No you can’t. You can only scroll through them.

Q:Range – Walk across street?? Interference – Can I carry my WiFi iPhone and Monitor at same time with no Interference issues?

A:

Probably…but honestly we returned ours after a few days. Found a better one (Summer dual). The problems we had were ease of use and quality of video is not that great. Have to go to a menu to pretty much do any operation no easy access buttons.

Q:I have one of these but it stopped charging. Who should I contact?

A:

The owner’s manual is this: https://www.motorola.com/on/demandware.static/Sites-Site/Sites-Motorola_US-Library/default/v1337848113914/All-Products/Baby-Monitors/MBP36/MBP36-UserGuide-ENGLISHv6.pdf?version=1,337,867,943,000

Customer support is 1-888-331-338

Q:How does the audio work with the split screen? Can I split screen so that I can see both my children, but still have the audio scan in case one wakes?

A:

I have the same exact question?!

Q:Can you play the lullaby on the camera and NOT on the parent unit?

A:

No. The lullaby comes through on the parent unit since it is a sound from the room.

Q:Hi, I would like to know if I can change the temperature unit for celcius degrees? Because I’m from Brazil.

A:

My temperature display has C. What does this mean?This monitor has the option of displaying Fahrenheit or Celsius scales for temperature. You may choose to display either from the temperature menu.

Q:Hi there As I’m purchasing for use in 240v supply, can someone pls let me know if this is dual voltage supply (240V/120V) or just 120V? Thanks!!

A:

I have been using the monitor in New Zealand where the voltage is 240v. You can find more information by downloading the product manual from the Motorola website.

Q:can you access these video monitors on any mobile phone or ipads?

A:

No.

Q:So for adding a second camera, can we use our camera from MBP36 as the additional camera or do we need to buy a 36s?

A:

Nope! And that’s one more reason Motorola and this monitor is awful! We are on our 4th one in 2 years (both mbp36 ones broke and then we had one MBP36s break after 4 months!) because they have all died and stopped taking the charge or the handheld just stops working. This is a crappy monitor and the most expensive on the market but unfortunately there are only a couple options with two cameras.

Q:What is the range of the monitor?

A:

590 feet

Q:Is this dual volt?

A:

Not that I know of. I checked the monitor and there is no switch to change it to 240.

Q:Having problems with the screen cutting in and out. As if changing channels or there’s interference. Even with full signal and battery. Ideas?

A:

I’m on my 4th one of these because they have all broken! The screen cuts in and out then the charger stopped working. This monitor seriously sucks. I talked to Motorola and over 50% of customers are having issues with this monitor but yet they’ve done nothing to fix it. It’s a major electronics company and they can’t make a reliable monitor. Yours is defective too based on what you said. 2 out of the 4 I’ve gotten have had that issue.

Q:Is there a motor noise with the pan and tilt functions or is it silent?

A:

Yes, there is a slight noise, but it has never woken up my son. I have a fan on in his room to drown out noise

Q:Is this compatible with MBP33?

A:

From what I know, they cannot connect with each other. Even the 36 and 36s doesn’t work together.

Q:Has anyone noticed a video & audio lag with this model? We’ve had the MBP36 for 3 years and never had a problem. Panning seems more jerky too.

A:

in my case works excellently so far in all that concerns you, I also had the MBP-36 and this is better in all, I hope you find it useful this review

Q:Does this work with 220 Volt? I need this for a friend who lives in brazil. Please let me know if this works in Brazil.

A:

It’s 110.

220 is for running things like a big air conditioning window unit or a big water heater.

Q:Buying my first baby monitor and considering this one. How does it connect to my TV?

A:

Hi. Although I have not felt the need to connect to the tv since the parent unit monitor is quite OK,
I think it connects to the tv from the side using a av cable. Take a look at the following links that
might be helpful.

Q:Can I use a MBP36BU camera with this?

A:

Not compatible.

Q:has anyone experienced a sound delay (about a second or two) and resolved it? We have 2 cameras paired. The delay makes it sound like we have twins :/

A:

I have 3 cameras total and have not experienced this problem.

Q:Can the videos be seen remotely on my smart phone through an app?

A:

unfortunately, no.

Q:Can I use the cable TV for motorola MBP36 with this unit as well, so it is possible to connect to my tv?

A:

Yes you could, with the right cables..

Q:Can you turn the screen off and press a button when you want to check the screen?

A:

Not absolutely certain because we always keep the screen on (we use it for my disabled wife, not for a baby), but I believe that you can do that.

Q:How do the audio and video quality of this model compare to Motorola’s smaller-screen baby monitor, the MPB41?

A:

Not sure how it compares but it’s VERY sensitive. On one the lowest volumes I can hear every movement and breath my daughter takes just about. Video quality is very good.

Q:Are the batteries rechargeable?

A:

Yes, the parent unit is. The camera works by being plugged in to the mains. No batteries required for that.

Q:Is anyone having issues with performance with recent purchases? Video viewing button & holding charges specifically

A:

no, so far it is working fine

Q:Can I use the camera that came with our MBP36 as a second camera for this model (Camera works but monitor stopped working)?

A:

I would be surprised if you couldn’t. They pair with any corresponding monitor. I’ve paired and unpaired mine in the past, so I believe it would work.

Q:Since this runs in 2.4 GHz range, does it interfere with your home wi-fi network like some other 2.4 GHz devices sometimes do?

A:

My daughter has this system and loves it. She has never had any problems with it interfering with the Wi-Fi.

Q:Hi, I’ve bought this Motorola baby monitor from you, but the battery does not charge, I’ve done as the manual says… left 24 hours charging but doesn

A:

You may want to take the battery out and back in if you haven’t already. The battery connector is a little fussy, so double check that it is securely mated/plugged.

Q:Can you turn off the out of range beep?

A:

No

Q:Can this camera but ceiling mounted? I had a camera with a switch in the bottom for wall or ceiling mount.

A:

No

Q:Does it interfere with your wifi network ( for example does it impact the home wifi bandwidth if you are streaming movies)?

A:

It runs on the same frequency band (2.4 ghz). When using it, if I had my laptop out using the internet, the receiver part of the unit wouldn’t work if it was nearby. So, yes it does cause WiFi issues.

Q:What (if any) is the difference in sound and image quality from MPB41?

A:

Sorry, I do not own a MPB41, so cannot comment.

Q:If picture is in picture is used, do you get sound feed from both, main one, or none?

A:

There is no picture in picture. It scans back and forth between the cameras. Like every 10 seconds it switches to the other camera and it does not get the sound feed from both. Just the one it is showing at the moment.

Q:Does this newer version have the ability to completely mute the volume?

A:

No
